“Colouring Outside the Lines” is a two-act drama that traces the Rivist family’s tumultuous and disturbing interactions as they meet for what they believe will be a family reunion on the Cape. Siblings Ted and Gwen, along with Gwen’s autistic adult daughter, Carlie, arrive to discover that their father, “Wild Bill,” a retired, recently widowed, contractor has gathered them to announce his upcoming marriage, (happening that afternoon), to Meg, a woman whom his children know nothing about. Ted and Gwen’s surprise, anger and probing questions lead them all into revelations about their family’s history that shake their memories, trust, and relationships to their very core. In the end, Bill and Meg’s strength and resiliency define their relationship, and reinforce the role that selfless love and sacrifice play in our lives.
